The Christmas gift program for state mental hospitals was begun.
Excerpt taken from the Tri Kappa’s Leading Ladies 1901-2013 book discussing our 23rd Council President, Katharyn Hoadley Fell:
"During her tenure, Katharyn took on a Mental Health Christmas Project across the State, working with the Indiana Association of Mental Health. She informed the local newspaper of her endeavor saying, 'Tri Kappa chapters throughout the state will cooperate in the accumulation of Christmas presents, because this is a most worthy cause deserving the sympathetic help of everyone. Through the giving of these gifts, we hope that the Yuletide bells will ring in the heart of each patient, but if we try to follow the national slogan, ‘Fight Mental Illness-Ring the Bell for Mental Health’ we will make every effort to keep the bell ringing throughout the year by contributing our time and effort.'”
